Observed noticeable rust and damaged wires on numerous kennels. Observed structural damage to outside of kennel buildings--rotten wood along bottom of walls, holes in walls, around dog doors, etc. Owner's daughter stated floor of blue kennel building is 'sinking'. Concrete floors and wood walls of kennel buildings are not sealed and so are not impervious to moisture.

Kennel buildings have heat/cooling abilities but not turned on at time of inspection (except for heat lamp on one puppy). At time of inspection, temperature was 43F, humidity 84%. Dogs noticeably shivering.

Several days worth of feces/urine in outdoor runs. Owner's daughter stated at 10:30am that they clean pens every 3 days or so. Owner stated when she arrived at 3:00pm she cleans the inside 3 times per year with bleach and was not sanitizing inside/outside pens or using any type of detergent daily or regularly. At least one dog appeared to have excessive diarrhea. Did not observe any cleaning/sanitizing products in buildings.

Kennel and areas surrounding extremely cluttered, with electrical cords hanging over kennels, 2x4s and other debris/trash piled on top of kennels that are potentially hazardous to dogs, etc.

All dogs had adequate water but some water bowls were extremely grimy,with leaves, scum, etc. in bottom of water bowls.

Evidence of mice inside kennel buildings.

Owner states vet needs to come out to update vaccinations for dogs, but did not get a chance to view dogs' vaccination records.Has set an appt with Nate Hansen,Anita vet clinic on Wed. 10/28/20

Concrete floors in north kennel building have been sealed. Concrete floors in south kennel building have not been sealed. To be finished 12/03/20.

Owner has not begun 'lifting' floor of south kennel building and repairing building. To be finished by 12/03/20.

Several indoor kennels have bent/broken/damaged wires. Damaged wires must be repaired or replaced by 12/03/20.

Indoor whelping kennel (currently housing 1 nursing mother and 10 puppies) in house has not been cleaned or sanitized in several days. Must be cleaned today and must be kept adequately clean. To be addressed IMMEDIATELY.

Outdoor water bowls have been cleaned since last inspection. Indoor feed bowls still need to be thoroughly cleaned and disinfected, feed bowls that show significant chewing should be replaced. To be compliant by 12/03/20.

The two dog houses do not provided adequate shelter and are not large enough for the size of the Bernese Mountain dogs.

Pregnant female mountain dog housed outdoors and is within two whelping.

Strong odor of animal waste in both north and south shed.

Tan shed housing mountain dog that is pregnant and two weeks from whelping is not heated and has no bedding or door. The inside of the shed is not impervious to moisture. Currently her water is frozen solid.

Food stored with bags open and in open bins on the ground in both north and south sheds. Bedding bags also opened.

Housing facilities are full of old bedding, food, waste, and debris.

The outdoor runs housing the mountain dogs do not have adequate ground cover and are 100% dirt.

All indoor and outdoor runs are 50 to 80% cover in animal waste.

Multiple outdoor runs in the brown shed have jagged edges. Some of the edges are caused by excessive rust near the bottom of the kennels and others have the wires of the kennels protruding into the kennels.

Bedding has not been cleaned.

Unclear when facility was last sanitized. Unopened cleaning products on hand.

Water is frozen solid in every animal enclosure except for puppies housed inside south shed (blue building).

Almost all water frozen solid. Animals obseved licking ice in water buckets during inspection.

Sales and litter records are in various stages of completion.

There is no bedding provided in the dog houses, the dog houses are not insulated, and the dog houses are not large enough to protect the dogs from exposure to inclement weather or extreme temperatures.

North and south building are full animal waste, bedding, old food, and storage items. The north building has boxes and other debris stored in it so you cannot get to the indoor enclosures. Numerous cleaning products stored in building but most are still sealed in original packaging and have not been opened.

Owner's method of waste removal is washing runs down with a hose. States usually cleaning 2 times per week but has fallen behind on cleaning.

Owner states he replaces frozen water in buckets each moring. Had not replaced frozen water as of 11:30 AM. Owner did not replace water until instructed to do so during inspection. Owner added liquid water from hose over the ice, did not remove frozen water from buckets or clean water buckets prior to adding additional water.

Some are thoroughly completed as required by Code and some are not, such as missing addresses of purchaser, etc.

With current litter of puppies present on property at time of inspection, there appears to be discrepancy to the number of puppies present vs. number of puppies listed in the litter/vaccination records (5 puppies present vs 9 puppies listed in records). It appears four puppies are missing from property but there are no sales records for these puppies. Owner had no explanation for 4 puppies missing from records, thought perhaps one had died.

Current wooded doghouses are to small for the breed and not impervious to moisture.

Inadequate ground cover in the large south outdoor run. Ground cover in run is bare dirt.

No vet inspection

The whelping building has an odor of ammonia and animal waste.

The whelping building has tools, building supply's, and trash clutter about.

Animal waste is not being removed from primary enclosures within 24 hrs.

Metal doors and kennel dividers in the French Bulldog runs have rusty jagged edges at the bottoms.

Records inspection was not preformed. A records inspection will be done by January 3, 2023 or on the next inspection.
