Frequently Asked Questions
Got questions? We’ve got answers. If you have some other questions, contact us at contact@pawthenticity.org.
What is Pawthenticity?
Pawthenticity is a free, public registry that makes dog breeder information easier to access and understand. We publish USDA inspection reports and state inspection reports (coming soon). Our goal is to bring transparency to the dog breeding world, support responsible practices, and give future owners the trustworthy information they need to make confident choices.
Why do we need Pawthenticity?
Animal shelters across the country are overwhelmed, and hundreds of thousands of dogs are euthanized each year. Adoption and shelter programs play a vital role, but they don’t solve the root problem: unchecked breeding. That’s where Pawthenticity comes in — giving the public a clear view into the world of breeders and the impact they have.
Why should I contribute to Pawthenticity?
- Create a record of a breeder and the health of their pups
- Support transparency in the dog world
- Give prospective dog owners a resource to find responsible breeders
- Shine a light on unethical practices that put dogs at risk.
- Celebrate responsible breeders who are doing things the right way.
Does it cost anything to use Pawthenticity?
No. Pawthenticity is always free to use — for owners, breeders, and anyone searching the registry.
Can I stay anonymous?
Yes! We do not require your personal identity to be public. Submissions are kept as anonymous as possible while still ensuring the accuracy and value of the information.
Is this a breeder directory?
No. Pawthenticity is not a breeder advertising platform. We do not rank, promote, or hide breeders based on payment or influence. All breeder information in the registry comes from public inspection reports and real dog owners.
Can I edit my own breeder profile?
Not directly. If you see something wrong, please submit a correction request (contact@pawthenticity.org). We’ll verify the info to try to keep the breeder profiles as accurate as possible.
Who runs Pawthenticity?
We are an independent, dog-loving project. We are not breeders or sellers. No one involved in this project profits from the pet industry. We are just normal people coming together to improve dog welfare.
Will this help stop puppy mills?
We hope so — over time. By making breeder information public and easy to search, Pawthenticity helps buyers avoid unethical breeders.
