- Sold puppies without USDA license
This was a search inspection. Facility owner's wife was present during this search inspection. Owner's wife stated that they currently have about 15-20 dogs. Owners wife stated that she was unsure how her husband sold their puppies. However; sales records confirm that they sold puppies to a pet store on 1/08/14. Regulations regarding licensing requirements were explained in detail. When greater than 4 breeding females are maintained, the wholesale sale of puppies without a license is a violation of Section 2.1 of the Animal Welfare Act. Any person operating or intending to operate as a dealer (who is not otherwise exempted from the licensing requirements) must have a valid license. The owner shall file a completed application form with the AC Regional Director if he would like to conduct any further regulated activity. An application packet was provided to the owner's Wife. NO REGULATED ACTIVITY MAY BE CONDUCTED UNTIL A USDA LICENSE IS OBTAINED

There is a Yorkie male #11 with moderate dental disease, including dark greenish-brown tartar on all canines and cheek teeth as well as discolored gums with some degree of swelling. In April of 2015, the licensee had self-identified this dog as having Grade 3 out of 4 dental disease, which requires cleaning by the veterinarian. This dog has not had any dental care performed after this assessment was made by the licensee. Dental disease can be painful, cause difficulty eating/drinking, and can lead to infection in other parts of the body if left untreated. The licensee must ensure that all animals are receiving proper veterinary care, including the use of appropriate methods to prevent, diagnose, treat, and control diseases and injuries. Correct by having this animal examined by the attending veterinarian and treated accordingly. Correct by: 1 March 2016
