-The interior surfaces of dog display #8 has become worn, exposing the pervious layer underneath. -This exposed layer is not impervious to moisture. Unsealed surfaces are difficult to clean and allow the harboring of microorganisms. A program of maintenance must be utilized to quickly identify worn surfaces and repair these noncomplances in a timely manner to ensure that proper cleaning and sanitizing can occur. Steps must be taken to ensure this noncompliant item does not repeat. -To be corrected by: April 6, 2016.

-Directly outside the primate enclosure entrance way, is an accumulation of empty supply bags, litter and debris. -This area must be free of any accumulation of trash, waste, and discarded materials. This will promote a healthier and safer area for the primates by reducing the environment for rodents and microorganism. A program of regularly scheduled cleaning and organizing must be utilized to correct this noncompliant item and to ensure this noncompliant item does not repeat. -To be corrected by: April 6, 2016.

-The hedgehog enclosure closest to the entrance door has an excessive accumulation of excreta. -The amount of excreta is restricting the hedgehog's ability to be free of excreta contamination. The cleaning schedule must be adjusted to remove excreta from the primary enclosure as often as necessary to prevent contamination of the animals and to minimize disease hazards and to reduce odors. Steps must be taken to ensure this noncompliant item does not repeat. -To be corrected by: March 23, 2016.

-The area that displays the puppies to the public is next to the store's checkout area. The checkout area has become cluttered with business equipment, stacks of papers, and old supplies. The puppies are carried through this area and are allowed to exercise next to this area. The employees must walk through this area to preform daily cleaning and husbandry practices. This area has become difficult to clean and poses an environment for bacteria, pest, and injuries. -The licensee must ensure that all animal areas inside of housing facilities must be kept neat and free of clutter, including equipment, furniture, and stored material. This will prevent potential injury and allow for ease of cleaning and observation of the housing area. Steps must be taken to ensure this noncompliant item does not repeat. -To be corrected by: July 26, 2016

An open bag of dog food was observed next to the front dog display area and in the access area between the dog display areas. All open supplies of food must be kept in leak proof containers with tightly fitting lids to prevent contamination and spoilage. To be corrected from this point forward.

-At the front of the store between the counter and the shelving unit is the access way to a puppy display. This area is accumulating clutter consisting of but not limited to equipment, furniture, and other stored materials. -This clutter is hampering the ability to properly clean and sanitize this area. Clutter also attracts unwanted pests. A method of permanently removing and organizing this area must be implemented, and steps taken to ensure this noncompliant does not repeat. -To be corrected from this day forward.

-At the front of the store, next to the blue dog display is an open bag of dog food. In the second access closet between the multi dog displays is an open bag of dog food. -All open supplies of food must be kept in leakproof container with tight-fitting lids to prevent spoilage, contamination, vermin infestation, and deterioration of nutritive value. When opening a bag of dog food, place the open food in a container with a tight-fitting lid and close the lid after each use. -To be corrected from this day forward.

Areas in the store were not being kept neat and free of clutter. At the front of the store where the dog display is located and running back behind the counter to the dog exercise pen are two stand-alone shelving units and an empty mobile reptile shelving unit that are no longer being used. These items are added clutter making it difficult to access the dog display and interfere with general cleaning and a sanitary environment. This area is adjacent to the dog housing area housing 10 puppies and the exercise pen which have accumulated shreds, shavings, and bedding material along the floor and on surfaces around these shelving units. Animal areas must be kept neat and free of clutter, including equipment and furniture to allow for proper husbandry practices. To be corrected by: March 24, 2026

Areas in the store near the bird display were not being kept neat and free of clutter. Along the front of the bird display area, housing 62 birds, is a shelving platform running the length of the display that is about three feet tall. This area has acquired an accumulation of bird dust, feathers, and caging substrate on the top of the shelving and along the floor next to the shelving and interfere with general cleaning and a sanitary environment. Housing facilities must be kept free of any accumulation of waste materials and junk and kept neat and free of clutter to support proper husbandry practices and to facilitate a routine cleaning schedule.
