• Yorkshire Terriers jumping dividers

  The housing facilities are not being designed and constructed to contain the animals securely. An indoor housing primary enclosure was observed to contain a single juvenile Yorkshire Terrier adjacent to an enclosure housing 3 juvenile Yorkshire Terrier puppies from the same litter. When the facility representative was asked why the single puppy was being housed alone, they responded that the puppy likely jumped over the divider into the adjacent enclosure. During the inspection one of the three puppies was observed jumping over the divider into the adjacent enclosure with the single puppy. Additionally, it was noted that a single enclosure in the sheltered housing section of the facility was housing 8 adult Yorkshire Terrier dogs where the rest of the enclosures were housing between 2-4 dogs. When inquiring about why this enclosure is housing more dogs than is being observed in the rest of the facility, the representative stated the dogs have jumped into this enclosure from adjacent enclosures. The primary enclosures not effectively containing the animals could lead to the animals being injured while jumping over dividers, compatibility issues between dogs, or an animal escaping the facility. Housing facilities for dogs must be designed and constructed so they are structurally sound. They must be kept in good repair, and they must protect the animals from injury, contain the animals securely, and restrict other animals from entering. Correct by 23 October 2025

• Adult female vaccine not current

  The facility is not following the Program of Veterinary Care for vaccinations. The Program of Veterinary Care currently prescribes dogs will be vaccinated for Distemper, Parvo, Hepatitis, and Leptospirosis annually. Additionally, the Program of Veterinary Care prescribes a rabies vaccine will be given at 16 weeks of age, at 1 year after the initial vaccine and then every 1 or 3 years depending on the labeled vaccine. 1 adult female dog (#8395) is not currently up to date on the DAPP/Lepto (7-way) or rabies vaccine. The last recorded 7-way vaccine was administered on 2 March 2024. The last recorded rabies vaccine which was labeled as a 1-year vaccine was administered on 2 March 2024. Failure to follow the preventative care schedule for vaccinations in the Program of Veterinary Care does not ensure the dogs are receiving appropriate protection against contagious and deadly diseases such as distemper, parvo, leptospirosis, and rabies which can lead to illness and discomfort to the dogs. The facility must follow the vaccination schedule approved by the attending veterinarian in the Program of Veterinary Care to protect the dogs from deadly or contagious diseases. Correct by 9 October 2025

• Yorkshire Terrier long toenails

  An adult female Yorkshire Terrier # 900215000188743 has excessively long toenails. The nails on all four feet are long and curl to the side when standing on a flat surface. The facility representative states they typically groom and trim the nails of all dogs every 2 months. The Program of Veterinary Care states that nails will be trimmed to allow dogs to walk in a normal manner, excessively long toenails will not be permitted, and the trimming frequency will vary between kennels. Excessively long toenails can result in pain and discomfort to the dogs and prevent the animal from standing or walking normally. Long toenails are also more likely to break and result in injury to the animal. The licensee must follow their preventative care and treatment plans to ensure healthy and un-matted hair coats, properly trimmed nails, and clean and healthy eyes, ears, skin, and teeth and ensure it is effective at maintaining healthy husbandry for the dog. Correct by 2 October 2025

• Cavapoo puppies medical records missing

  The facility was unable to provide medical records for two juvenile Cavapoo puppies being treated for an illness. While reviewing cage cards during the inspection it was observed puppy 25-53 and 25-56 died on 10 August 2025 and 31 July 2025 respectively. When inquiring about the deaths of the puppies the facility representative stated the puppies had developed diarrhea which were treated per the Program of Veterinary Care with Albon (5 days of treatment) and Toltrazuril (3 days of treatment). When the APHIS official requested to see the medical records for these dogs the facility representative stated he did not document the treatment of the puppies on a medical record. Failure to document on a medical record when a problem is identified with the date and description of the problem along with the plan for treatment and the names of all treatments and the dates of administration may interfere with the ability of APHIS officials to determine if the animals are receiving adequate veterinary care. The facility must ensure that medical records for dogs are available for APHIS inspection and if a problem is identified (such as a disease, injury, or illness, the date and a description of the problem, examination findings, test results, plan for treatment and care, and the treatment procedures performed, when appropriate, are documented on a medical record and maintained. Furthermore, the names of all vaccines and treatments administered, and the dates of administration are recorded and maintained. Correct by 9 October 2025
