An adult female cavalier king charles spaniel named Suzy-Q (#900263001068313, approximately 4 years old) had a loose upper premolar on the right side of its mouth. There was a white substance between the tooth and the gum. Above that the gum was reddened. The licensee had not observed this prior to inspection. Dental issues can be painful and can lead to infection which can become systemic. Daily observation must be done for all animals to assess their health and well-being and a mechanism of direct and frequent communication is required so that timely and accurate information on problems of animal health, behavior, and well-being is conveyed to the attending veterinarian. The attending veterinarian must be contacted and the dog must be treated as per his/her instructions. Correct by 8/27/26.
