• Female Goldendoodle circular lumbar wound (Direct)

  A 5-year-old female goldendoodle (microchip 956000013582804) has an approximately 2 inch wide roughly circular open wound in the right lumber area.. The wound has irregular edges and extends into the subcutaneous tissues, leading the licensee and inspectors to conclude it was most likely from a bite. There is hair loss around the wound extending a couple inches in all directions. The skin is very inflamed and the skin at the wound edges is dry and crusty looking indicating the wound may be a few days old. There is also a small, more superficial wound on the right front leg on the right side of the dog’s “wrist” area. This wound has no hair loss, clean edges and red blood indicating it may be more recent. The licensee had not noticed the wounds. The licensee said daily observations are usually done while doing chores in the buildings. When the wounds were observed by the inspectors, the licensee had already completed chores in that building and started on chores in another.

• Female Wolfhound ear wound with flies (Direct)

  “Bonney”, an adult female Wolfhound (microchip 991003001259210), has an approximately 2-inch-wide dome shaped wound on the skin over the top of the left ear. The hair in the area is gone and the center is very red and oozing blood. There were several flies on the wound. The licensee did not tell the veterinarian that a wound had developed. The licensee showed the inspectors texts where he had communicated with his veterinarian in the past about problems with “fly strike” , the result of fly bites on the ears of his outdoor housed dogs. The veterinarian at that time generally suggested he use a fly repellant gel called “Swat” in these situations. The licensee has documented that he used the repellant on this dog with the first application on August 15 and last record treatment on August 31.

• Food trailer and birthing counter clutter

  The trailer used for storing food for the dogs had a stack of pallets, plastic wrap, and cardboard stacked in the back of the trailer behind the pallets of dog food about five foot high. The housing facility serving as the whelping building housing 14 adult dogs and 24 puppies has an accumulation of supplies and other clutter on the counter just inside the door of the building. These items included an extension cord, trash, q-tips, spray paint cans, medication, tools, and other items in disarray on the counter. In addition to these items, a bottle of safe guard, Ivermax, and other medications that were being used for the dogs were intermingled on the counter. Accumulation of trash, clutter and supplies in areas storing food and in animal areas does not allow for keeping the housing facilities clean, impacts easy access to medication and can impact the ability to provide adequate husbandry care for the animals. Housing facilities and areas used for storing animal food or bedding must be free of any accumulation of trash, waste material, junk, weeds, and other discarded materials. Animal areas inside of housing facilities must be kept neat and free of clutter, including equipment, furniture, and store material, but may contain materials actually used and necessary for cleaning the area, and fixtures or equipment necessary for proper husbandry practices. Correct by September 16, 2026.

• Shelter floors dirty with feces

  Hard surfaces in contact with 12 dogs were not being spot-cleaned daily and sanitized to prevent accumulation of excreta and reduce disease hazards. The 4 shelters provided for 12 dogs had wood floors that were covered in dirt, old bedding, and feces. Accumulations of dirt, old bedding and feces create unsanitary conditions that can cause disease.. Hard surfaces with which the dogs come in contact with must be spot-cleaned daily and sanitized in accordance with 3.11(b) of this subpart to prevent accumulation of excreta and reduce disease hazards. All surfaces of housing facilities must be cleaned and sanitized when necessary to satisfy generally accepted husbandry standards and practices. Sanitization may be done using any of the methods provided in 3.11(b)(3) for primary enclosures. To be corrected by September 4, 2026.

• Mouse droppings on dog food pallets

  The facility did not have an effective pest control program in place for the control of mice. The trailer that is used to store the pallets of dog food for the 183 adult dogs and 38 puppies has large amounts of mouse droppings throughout the trailer. The inspectors observed moused droppings on top of the pallets of dog food, on the floor along the wall, and on top of the unopened buckets of poison. Failure to ensure that an effective pest control program is in place can lead to disease spread and stress in the animals. The facility must establish and maintain an effective program for the control of insects, external parasites affecting dogs and cats, and birds and mammals that are pests so as to promote the health and well-being of the animals and reduce contamination by pests in animal areas. Correct by September 16, 2026
