The gravel surface has become stained with numerous patches of dark gravel and worked in feces. The owner must replace the floor surface of these two kennel runs. Rake and clean floors daily and more clean often if needed to help prevent odors, insects, and maintain a contaminated free floor surface for dogs to walk on. This will help in the good health and well-being of animals. The dogs could become entrapped in the holes under the divider fencing. In addition, one of the divider panels had exposed ends protruding downwards into the dug hole. This affects the ability of enclosure divider fencing to contain the dogs securely. It could lead to potential injury if the dogs try to escape under the fencing, affecting the safety and health of the dogs. The licensee must be kept in good repair, and they must protect the animals from injury, contain the animals securely, and restrict other animals from entering. Sharp, jagged edges could potentially cause injury if the dog chews on the receptacle. The licensee must ensure that all water receptacles can be readily cleaned and sanitized or be replaced when worn. Cleaning of surfaces is necessary to prevent an accumulation of excreta and other disease hazards. This indicates an unsanitary living condition exists that could lead to potential disease or health risks. Surfaces which are not cleaned and sanitized properly increase the risk of disease hazards for the dogs. Cleanliness is important to the health and well-being of the animals. All surfaces of housing facilities must be cleaned and sanitized when necessary to satisfy generally accepted husbandry standards and practices. The applicant must ensure that hard surfaces with which the dogs come in contact must be spot cleaned daily and sanitized in accordance with 3.11 (B) of this sub part to prevent accumulation of excreta and reduce disease hazards.
