Employees have identified various animals with conditions that needed veterinarian treatment by labeling their enclosures; however WKA-3 (enclosure 401) had a hairless, red swollen lesion on the top of its right hind paw and its enclosure was not labeled to indicate this condition. The last notation in its medical card was 3/17/16 and does not appear to be related to this active lesion. The facility must ensure that thorough daily observations are completed and animals' conditions are communicated promptly to the attending veterinarian for initiation of any needed treatment. Note: During inspection, the facility took action to ensure the affected animal receives veterinarian-directed treatment.

Some of the weaned puppies and preweaning-aged puppies in eleven enclosures were observed to have feet or legs pass through the smooth-coated mesh floors when they walked. The facility reports mats with smaller mesh holes had been removed a little early for these groups for sanitation reasons. While the facility reports no injuries have occurred, floors have to be maintained so that dogs/puppies' feet cannot pass through the floor to prevent risk of injury. Ensure that processes are in place to keep enclosure floors in a manner that prevent feet/legs from passing through. ***Item was promptly corrected by the facility prior to the end of the inspection. Ensure corrective processes remain in place.

The licensee did not keep records of treatment procedures performed for all dogs at the facility. Medical records show that a veterinarian prescribed antibiotic treatment for a six-year-old female Beagle (tattoo POC-1), but there are no records showing that the treatments were given. The veterinarian diagnosed that the beagle had interdigital cysts on January 5, 2026, and prescribed a treatment of topical antibiotic ointment and oral antibiotics to be given “until better”. At the time of inspection, the beagle’s enclosure has colored tabs on it which indicate that she is still under treatment and reminding staff to give the medications, but there is no record that confirms that the treatments were given. Complete medical records, including records confirming that prescribed treatments are performed, are important to ensure that the veterinarian’s directives are being followed. Dealers and research facilities must keep such medical records and make them available for APHIS inspection. To be corrected by: February 6, 2026

The facility did not perform complete daily observation of all animals to assess their health and well-being. The inspectors observed an adult, one year old female dog [VWE5] with a skin condition. The dog had many circular areas of hair loss on the outside of both ears and mild crusting on the tip of the right ear. The hair on the inside of both ears was also patchy. Some of the skin in these hairless areas was red and crusted. The dog also had two areas of moist red hair loss on the left front paw (about 5mm in diameter). According to facility representatives, this condition was not identified prior to the inspection. This has prevented the attending veterinarian from the opportunity to provide medical care for the animal. Correct by arranging for the Attending Veterinarian to evaluate this animal and ensuring the facility is performing daily observation of all animals to assess their health and well-being.
