Official USDA dog on hand sheets (7005's) had 44 dogs recorded, but there were 48 dogs counted by the inspector. When the records and dogs at the facility do not match it makes the records incomplete. Complete and accurate records are needed to ensure each animals identity can be known with certainty and to facilitate the ability to trace dogs. The licensee must maintain complete and accurate records of all dogs at all times at their facility. Correct by 12/13/14.

The entrance edges to three fiberglass shelter structures are chewed exposing a jagged, roughened surface. The shelter structures used by six dogs are located in outdoor housing. Surfaces not maintained on a regular basis cannot be readily cleaned and sanitized. A chewed, roughened surface could harbor disease causing agents which affects the health and well-being of the dogs. The potential exists for dogs to ingest chewed plastic which could cause potential digestion problems. The licensee must ensure that all surfaces can be readily cleaned and sanitized or be replaced when worn. Correct by 11/27/14.

There is a mixture of dirt, grease and other excreta on four fiberglass wall boards. Eight dogs are in contact with the affected wall boards located in outdoor housing. The affected area covers approximately 25 to 30 percent of the wall surface. Sanitization of surfaces is necessary to prevent an accumulation of excreta and other disease hazards. It indicates an unsanitary living condition exists that could lead to potential disease or health risks. The licensee must ensure that all surfaces are spot-cleaned daily and sanitized at least once every two weeks or more often if needed in accordance with section 3.11 B. Correct by 11/17/14.

In the "Bulldog Whelper" building, female black tri-color Bulldog named Sugar, microchip # 0A022244746, has red swollen tissue in the left eye with a greenish yellow discharge. The licensee stated that the dog had surgery approximately four weeks prior and was reevaluated one and one-half weeks ago when a cesarean delivery of her puppies occurred. Treatment following the puppy delivery has been over-the-counter lubrication drops applied as needed. Chronic eye problems and abnormalities can be painful and cause further loss of vision. The license must us appropriate methods to treat chronic eye problems and abnormalities. TO BE CORRECTED BY: The licensee took the dog to the vet as I was leaving the inspection.

The Labrador Retriever outdoor housing facility housing fourteen dogs in eleven enclosures had a brown greasy build-up around the shelter entry doors, and the bottom edge of the shelters. The licensee stated that it had been three to four weeks since the enclosures had been sanitized. The licensee washes down daily as a means to spot clean. The build-up of organic material can harbor disease. The licensee must sanitize in accordance to 3.11(b), which states that used primary enclosures and food and water receptacles must be sanitized at least once every two weeks.

The outdoor hutch style enclosures housing ten adult dogs had a build-up of organic material on the interior surfaces of the shelters. The majority of the floors, and walls had a brown greasy residue. The build-up of organic material can harbor disease. The licensee must sanitize in accordance to 3.11(b), which states that used primary enclosures must be sanitized at least once every two weeks or as often as necessary to prevent the accumulation of dirt, debris, foot waste, excreta, and other disease hazards.

The wooden parts of the shelters in the outdoor hutch style enclosures housing ten adult dogs had scratched and chewed surfaces that were no longer impervious to moisture. Scratched and chewed surfaces can harbor disease and cannot be properly cleaned and sanitized. The licensee must construct the enclosures and shelters so they are impervious to moisture. All surfaces must be maintained on a regular basis. Surfaces that cannot be readily cleaned and sanitized must be replaced when worn or soiled. TO BE CORRECTED BY: September 19, 2016

The affected area covers approximately 60 to 75 percent of the floor area. Cleaning of surfaces is necessary to prevent an accumulation of excreta and other disease hazards. This indicates an unsanitary living condition exists that could lead to potential disease or health risks. Surfaces which are not cleaned and sanitized properly increase the risk of disease hazards for the dogs. Cleanliness is important to the health and well-being of the animals. All surfaces of housing facilities must be cleaned and sanitized when necessary to satisfy generally accepted husbandry standards and practices. The licensee must ensure that hard surfaces with which the dogs come in contact must be spot cleaned daily and sanitized in accordance with 3.11 (B) of this sub part to prevent accumulation of excreta and reduce disease hazards.
