• Bolts protruding and broken glass

  Wardens observed bolts protruding into primary enclosures that are at food bowl level. Wardens also observed a broken window with large shards of glass still hanging from the window sash. Wardens advised kennel owner to take the following action: Indoor and outdoor housing facilities for dogs shall be maintained in a manner to protect the dogs from injury and to contain the dogs.

• Unfinished wood and rusted kennel doors

  Wardens observed unfinished/bare wood on the bottoms of kennel runs in both buildings along with a large amount of rust on most kennel doors. Wardens advised the kennel owner to take the following action: The interior building surfaces of housing facilities shall be constructed and maintained so that they are water resistant and may be readily sanitized.

• Ammonia smell measured 10 ppm

  Wardens observed a strong smell of ammonia and recorded ammonia level of 10ppm with ammonia test strips.

• High humidity 82%

  The humidity level was 82%.

• Debris and urine buildup on kennels

  Wardens observed an accumulation of debris/urine/excreta on all cage doors, in most corners of kennels and on floors of most kennels. Wardens advised the kennel owner to take the following action: Primary enclosures for dogs shall be sanitized a minimum of once daily, and as often as is necessary to prevent an accumulation of debris or excreta or a disease hazard. A dog may not be placed in a primary enclosure previously occupied unless the enclosure has been sanitized.

• Buildings and grounds cluttered, pests

  Wardens observed a large amount of clutter in all buildings; along floors, corners, under kennels, on top of kennels and on windowsills. Wardens observed a large amount of debris/garbage/unused kennels/fence panels/empty bags/boxes on the outside of all the buildings housing dogs, along every side. Grass and weeds growing very tall and an overabundant number of insects/bees around all buildings. Rust on bottoms of kennel doors. A buildup of debris/scale/feces/urine on all kennel gates/doors. Cobwebs along all ceilings. Unfinished wood along bottoms of all indoor primary enclosures. Bolts protruding into the primary enclosures at face level and broken panes of glass in primary enclosures. Wardens advised the kennel owner to take the following action: The buildings and grounds of kennels shall be maintained, kept clean and in good repair to protect the animal from injury and to facilitate practices required by this chapter. Kennels shall have an effective program that controls ingress by insects, ectoparasites and avian and mammalian pests. Evidence of insects, ectoparasites and avian and mammalian pests or conditions that would allow or encourage infestation in a kennel is indicative of an ineffective program and unsanitary environmental sanitation in the kennel.
