What inspectors wrote

May 3, 2023 — Routine inspection, USDA 58-A-0369

31 dogs recorded (14 adults · 17 puppies).

  • Doodle puppies missing identification

Thirteen doodle puppies of varying ages are housed in a single enclosure, but only four have an official form of identification (microchip). Failure to apply an official form of identification to each puppy interferes with APHIS official's ability to identify animals and trace their movements. Additionally, official identification is necessary to complete required paperwork including medical records. A class "A" dealer must identify all dogs under 16 weeks old by the use of an official tag, a distinctive and legible tattoo, or a plastic-type collar containing the required information. APHIS Officials also accept microchips or written identification attached to the enclosure (cage cards) for puppies under 16 weeks old provided that these puppies are maintained in distinct litters and provided that the cage card contains all the required information. The licensee must apply an official form of identification to each puppy and the licensee must ensure that all dogs are properly identified at all times. Correction date: May 11,2023.

  • Acquisition, contingency, medical records unavailable

At the time of inspection, records of acquisition and disposition, the contingency plan, and medical records were not available for review by the inspector. The review of records required by the Animal Welfare Act facilitates the inspection process by allowing the inspector to determine compliance and evaluate animal welfare. The facility must ensure that all records are available upon request during the inspection process. Correction date: May 13,2023.
