3.9 Feeding (b) There were multiple open top, white plastic feeders that were dirty and had brown grime on their surface. Routine cleaning and sanitization of food receptacles is a crucial aspect of animal husbandry that reduces disease contamination risks and prevents food contamination. The licensee must keep food receptacles clean and regularly sanitized in accordance with Sec. 3.11(b) of this subpart. TO BE CORRECTED BY: 3/8/2015
- Feces piled in five enclosures
Sec. 3.11 Cleaning, sanitization, housekeeping, and pest control.(a) There was an excessive accumulation of feces in the indoor and outdoor portions of at least 5 enclosures of the facility, all of which housed adult dogs. Some of the feces was dry and grey, indicating that the feces had been present for more than 24 hours. There were areas of the enclosure that the dogs could not access without coming into contact with fecal material. Routine cleaning which includes the daily removal of solid wastes from all primary enclosures is a crucial aspect of animal husbandry that reduces disease contamination risks and allows the animals to remain clean and unsoiled. The licensee must remove animal waste on a daily basis. TO BE CORRECTED BY: 3/7/2015
