Looking for an Akita breeder? Glossy websites and cute puppy photos make it hard to know what a kennel is really like. Pawthenticity is a nonprofit that collects public government inspection records into free, searchable breeder profiles, so you can see what inspectors found before you bring an Akita home.
Pawthenticity tracks 13 licensed kennels that breed Akitas. They average 45 dogs of all breeds, and the largest has 110. More than half (9 kennels, or 69%) have been cited by inspectors, for 38 citations in total. The kennels are in 5 states, mostly Missouri (5), Pennsylvania (4), Ohio (2), Iowa (1) and Kansas (1). Hobby and unlicensed breeders aren't included.
