Found breeder through: Personal referral Breed: Goldendoodle Got puppy: 2024 Price paid: $450 Pickup or delivery state: New York Received puppy: Picked up at the kennel Infectious disease or parasite: Intestinal worms — Vet confirmed: Yes Kennel visit: Yes Offered to take puppy back: No Experience with this breeder: The breeder asked if we (my husband and I) were sure we wanted to take her. We had made the trip to pick up a sibling to the dog we did get, a male. They were all much larger. The kennel building was loud, plywood walls that were dirty, as were the windows. There was an ally walkway between two rows of pens where the dogs were kept. Each pen area was maybe 5' x 3' and had approximately 6 - 8 dogs depending on their size, but looked to be kept together as litters or same breed. There were I believe six kennels (penned areas) in this building. We were told the parents of the puppies were not on site, though there was an adult Golden Retriever. I made my decision to get the puppy I picked out a female. The breeder stood her on a chair and raked a wire bristled brush roughly down her belly to remove wood shavings from her fur. He insisted that we take and use the food he feeds. It was sold through his website. Our girl just turned 2 yrs old. We love her, but since the very first day know in our hearts that she was definitely saved from being used as a breeder. She's very sweet, but super scared of New people, specially of men. The more slender the build of a man, the more scared she is. She absolutely does not trust my son who looks a lot like the breeder we met that day. She barks every single time she sees my son, even if its only been 4 minutes. She will scoot around furniture to avoid being near him and always keeps a watchful eye on him. She loves babies, children, adult women, hates men. No doubt in our minds that the dogs there were abused and treated like a commodity.
