Improperly stored medication can become contaminated and thus can be harmful to the animals. Store all medications and vaccines properly and away from chemicals or other products to ensure that they are not contaminated. Correct from this day forward.

Sanitation in primary enclosures In the puppy and adult enclosures, there was a buildup of excreta, waste, and animal hair in the corners and sides, underneath the wire floor material. Inadequate cleaning practices can result in contamination of food or water, an increase in insect or vermin activity, and a risk of illness to the animals. Follow proper cleaning practices as directed in section 3.11 Correct by 2/22/14

Four puppies born on 5/19/16 were sold by the licensee to a USDA licensed dealer on 7/12/16. The puppies would have been 54 days old on the day of sale which is two days shy of the required 8 weeks of age that they are required to be before being sold and transported. Dogs younger than 8 weeks of age are more susceptible to stresses that occur from travelling and being placed into a new facility. Their immune systems are more susceptible to becoming comprised which could cause them to become sick and even die. The licensee must not sell any more puppies under 8 weeks of age unless it is directly to the end consumer. Correct immediately.

A tri-colored Dachshund named "Lacey" (tag #062) is nursing a five day old puppy. During inspection, the puppy wasn't moving around much. When asked, the licensee stated the puppy seemed to be thriving and doing well the first four days, but she noticed that it wasn't moving around much last night. She stated the status hasn't seem to change from last night. The licensee hasn't contacted the attending veterinarian and hasn't done anything to provide treatment to the puppy. Not contacting the attending veterinarian on a nursing puppy that doesn't seem to be thriving over the past day could result in the puppy getting sicker. A mechanism of direct and frequent communication is required so that timely and accurate information on problems of animal health, behavior, and well-being is conveyed to the attending veterinarian. The attending veterinarian must be contacted and the puppy must be treated per his/her instructions. Correct starting on 11/20/25.
