Dog with USDA #35 was observed to be limping. Upon further examination, there is a red mass/thickened area on her right front foot. This area was sensitive to touch.

Dog with USDA #33 was also observed limping. There is a reddened mass/thickened area on her left rear foot. In addition, she had excessively long nails. This dog would not allow further examination.

No recorded date for fecal float testing for 29 dogs had been done at time of inspection. Annual fecal float testing is important for the health of the animals. Fecal float testing is done to ensure that there are no active internal parasites. The licensee must ensure that all dogs are receiving vaccinations for contagious and/or deadly diseases of dogs (including rabies, parvovirus, and distemper) and sampling and treatment of parasites and other pests (including fleas, worms, coccidia, giardia, and heartworm) in accordance with a schedule approved by the attending veterinarian. Correct by 6/5/23.

The cage carpets used at the facility as whelping mats are in disrepair. Six enclosures housing five adult dogs and 16 puppies, contain cage carpets that have frayed edges that expose loose fibers and long strings. Frayed carpet edges can potentially be dangerous, as the dogs could chew on or ingest the carpet fibers, or they may wrap around the extremities of the dogs resulting in injury. Correct by ensuring that all materials used in the kennels, such as carpeting, are closely monitored and replaced when worn, to avoid the potential for injury. Additionally, the licensee must ensure that all surfaces in contact with the dogs are able to be cleaned and sanitized in accordance with 3.11(b) of this subpart or replaced when worn or soiled.

The facility does not have the date recorded for the administration of the rabies vaccine in the adult dogs. Failure to maintain records of vaccines and treatments administered to the dogs does not allow for APHIS officials to determine if the veterinarian approved vaccination schedule is being followed. Correct by ensuring that the names of all vaccines and treatments administered and the dates of administration are recorded.

Facility records indicate that female #5621 was bred to produce a litter of puppies on 12/28/24 and again to produce a litter on 9/13/25. Although she had received a physical exam just prior to whelping on 12/28/24, she did not receive a physical exam prior to the 9/13/25 litter.

Six Enclosures lacked environmental enrichment. Licensee corrected this issue during the inspection. Corrected on: 6/10/2026
