One dog was identified during this inspection in need of veterinary care. There was a female Yorkie/Bichon (tag # 0411) with an intermittent non-weight bearing lameness on the right front leg. Digit 4 on the right paw was bent. Owner recently hair clipped and nail trimmed the dog and did not note any abnormalities or injuries at that time. He said that the dog probably pulled the nail recently. This dog needs to be examined by the attending veterinarian for diagnosis and treatment. Documentation of the examinations and treatments must be maintained for future review by APHIS officials. Correct by Oct. 8, 2016.

The kennel owner complied with the 72 hour vet check ordered during this inspection.

The current program of veterinary care does not include a sampling program with a schedule approved by the attending veterinarian for intestinal worms, coccidia, and giardia. Lack of a sampling program makes it difficult to determine the effectiveness of the treatment plan for parasites. A sampling program for worms, coccidia, and giardia with a scheduled approved by the attending veterinarian must be established to help maintain an effective parasite program. This is a 1st re-license inspection for a Class A license.

There were no fecal samples taken to monitor for internal parasites for the adult dogs in the last 12 months. The written program of veterinary care states that composite fecal samples for adult dogs will be conducted at least annually. Failure to conduct annual fecal samples can affect the preventative program established to monitor for internal parasites for the adult dogs. Licensee must follow the written program on file for fecal sampling for the adult dogs. Correct by April 10, 2024.

A veterinary examination was ordered on a dog under section 402(a) based on warden’s observations of the condition of dogs during inspection. Kennel is in compliance with section 402(d) because veterinary examination was completed within the 72-hour time frame.
