What inspectors wrote

October 4, 2022 — Routine inspection, USDA 21-A-0213

41 dogs recorded (27 adults · 14 puppies).

  • Frayed carpet in birthing box

In building #2 one enclosure had a whelping box that contained a carpet surface. The edges of the carpet were frayed and had long threads. This could allow the dog and puppies to become caught up and tangled and possibly become injured. In addition, the dogs can chew and ingest carpet material. Any carpet material that dogs may come in contact with must be replaced as often as necessary in order to maintain it in good condition and keep it sanitary. The licensee must address this issue. ******Correct by October 15, 2022

  • Puppies under 16 weeks not identified

Several puppies which had been recently weaned did not have a form of ID. The puppies had been identified utilizing cage card methods, however the cards did not contain the complete information required. In addition, the puppies had been moved to a different enclosure from the dam since being weaned and the cage cards were not attached to the enclosure containing the puppies. Puppies under 16 weeks that are identified using cage cards must have the card attached to the outside of the enclosure. In addition, cage cards that serve as ID purposes as well as inventory purposes must contain the required information and be attached to the outside of the enclosure where the puppies are located. The licensee needs to correct this issue. **********Correct by September 21, 2023

  • No written emergency plan
